Have you ever noticed that when you watch election results on TV, the government only posts occasional and summary results, such as — 55% red to 45% blue with 5% reporting, 53% red to 47% blue with 11% reporting, etc.?
Citizens’ oversight of the vote reporting of elections is a bit like checking the box score of a football game at the end of each quarter instead of watching the game.
Imagine if government was in charge of NFL football games and reported the score the way it reports the vote count. Instead of televising the game, the government would only allow fans to see the box score at the end of each quarter. Perhaps at the end of the game the government might provide some information about important plays that influenced the scoring.
Does anyone really believe only the government should have access to information detailing how election results were tabulated?
That only the government can be trusted with election information?
I love the analogy!
